One of my now favorite words comes from a pairing that has 86 fics (complete and incomplete). Tepid. The fic was over 20 years old. But I still left comments through the entire thing, and I learned the author was still alive and well and happy to revisit their own works. Even suggested other fics by their friends.

I've fallen in love with fics that are 10 years old, and the author no longer updates/replies/is on ao3. But that fic is one I read every few months. It shaped and changed me. It's weird to say, but I fully believe that fic changed my life. It's inspired me, and I consider it to be the best thing I've ever read (including actual books). I want a tattoo based on it. I want to bookbind my own physical copy of it. Because I love it that much.

If you put it out there it might not be appreciated the moment you publish it. But that doesn't mean that in 20 years someone won't find it and love it. It might even be the moment you publish. But no matter how "cringe" or crappy you think it is there will be someone that wants to read it.

write for yourself. put your fantasies on paper. no one knows what you are writing. no one knows what's in your head. no one is going to write it for you. if you don't write down your ideas they will disappear. if you are too scared to write your thoughts then don't write, try something different. if writing is the only way, get to writing. no one else's opinion matters. no one else's opinion will ever matter

@defyant sent: "If you're so unsatisfied with your dame, then why stick around her?" Riddick was curious. Another night and Vaako came into his chambers. What just to talk? He didn't seem like the type to just want to hang around. Riddick had gotten sick of the complaining from the command so he targeted a small poverty stricken world to help them. He figured why let them starve when they could be comfortable among their ranks and it seemed to please the overall people.

Vaako is becoming somewhat accustomed to Riddick's unprompted (and often far too perceptive) questions, both about the inner workings of the Necromonger race as well as... his personal life. The Commander sighs, shifting in his seat to stretch long, booted legs out before him.

I'm sure I do not know what you mean--" except that Siberius damn well does. Evenso, he levels an unreadable look in Riddick's direction, mentally calculating how much of himself he is willing to reveal to the Furyan. "It is not in a Necromonger's nature to be satisfied, My Lord. Our entire purpose is to seek the annihilation of all living things in the universe, and only upon arrival at the Underverse will we know true satisfaction."

Which is alot of words just for Vaako to deflect from answering Riddick's actual question. One he is begun asking himself as well: Why am I here, when I could be in my Dame's treacherous embrace? Is it because the Second Among Commanders feels as though he has finally found a place of acceptance within the Necromonger hierarchy? Because Riddick, for all his lone wolf bravado, does actually seem to listen to Siberius's counsel, in ways the old Lord Marshal never did?

( Or is it more than that... a deeper truth Vaako isn't sure he's willing to face... )

Discomfited by the thought, Siberius hesitates... then quietly admits, " Wulia and I... we serve a purpose to one another, a mutually agreed advantage. Or we did, once.."

Hey! So, I'm back. Took a few-year hiatus from writing and realized I really missed the connection with other writers. Name's Sam. I write. I work. I'm not on 24/7, but my job allows me a little freedom so I'm looking to get back into writing again.

Literacy: Multi-para, bordering on novella (though I am rusty, so it might take me a hot minute to get back to my old style). I like description and character development. I like slow-burn.

Should probably add that I do tend toward MxM pairings as it's easier for me to write. I don't shy away from NSFW or smut, but I don't jump right into it either. If you're just looking for that, I'm probably not the one you're looking for.

As Vaako dodges back from Riddick's advance, he's brought up short by the sheer rockface of the sinkhole's wall behind him. Grunting, the Necromonger can't help but have an incredulous thought --This Wasn't Supposed To Go This Way.

It's a familiar refrain, by this point. Ever since Riddick revealed himself on Helion Prime, his mere presence has sown chaos among the Necromonger Fleet, undermining the Faith and hurtling members of the Elite towards their untimely deaths. Some part of Vaako admires the ruthlessness with which this Furyan is able to exploit weakness (even if it is among his own people), but By The Underverse, how is it possible a single Breeder can stymie so many of his Dame's his well-laid plans for Ascension?? He Isn't Even Purified!

Baring his teeth, Siberius lifts the familiar heft of his war axe, its multi-bladed head within easy range of Riddick's carotid artery. But in the same instant, he feels the unsubtle nudge of a sharp point slipping past the plates of his armor, Riddick's own weapon seeking the vulnerable gap between his ribs. The Commander stills, his eyes narrowing.

"A Necromonger does not compensate." He grits out, though a traitorous whisper at the back of Vaako's mind reminds him: Zylaw. A Lord Marshal forged by paranoia... and for what? For the sake of Prophecy? Scowling at the Furyan, Siberius assesses their position and mentally weighs his odds on bleeding out before additional Necromonger soldiers arrive. It's... not favorable.

He might be faithful, but Vaako isn't a fool. He slowly eases his weapon away from Riddick's neck, adding "... and you, Breeder? I admit, I hadn't expected you to run from a fight."

INTIMIDATION AND VIOLENT RP PROMPTS @immortalmuses sent weapon from vaako.

They were stuck together for three more hours at least. In Riddick's evasion attempts, he'd ruined both their ships. Now it was a matter of not murdering each other in the sinkhole they'd fallen into long enough for Vaako's so-called rescue party.

A shadow crosses over Riddick. His goggle eyes covet the weapon casting it: this cumbersome and spartan two-hander. Another creation of this necromonger pomp and circumstance that, truth be told, tickled him. Murderers pretending to be better than the average con. Gussied up in their tech and their sacrament and their ritual.

Riddick preferred to be plain-faced about his depravity. Off-grid, off-putting. Spare him the bullshit creeds to feel good about killing. Can't shame the shameless.

This amusement slips into his natural pout, looking as pleased as the cat that caught the canary when it should be the other way around.

"Compensatin' for something?" A metallic ringing — his blade glancing up the necromonger's weapon before tucking neatly, lightning quick, in that sweet little nook where that armor doesn't cover a joint. The promise of blood for blood, but until then, he maintains.

ㅤㅤㅤVaako follows the pointed direction of Riddick's Ulak with his gaze, spotting the bloodied heap of a lesser general lying dead in the outer chamber. The blood on the Commander's teeth turns to a fine mist as he expels a snarl.

ㅤㅤㅤ"This has all the hallmarks of an attempted coup," Scowling, Siberius ducks briefly into the en-suite bathing chamber to collect a towel. He emerges swiping at the blood smeared across his mouth, before offering Riddick the towel to wipe his blades clean. ".... and my intel suggests it is once again a member of the Nobility, unable to accept your rule because..." Vaako pauses, then grimaces, "...because you have not been purified."

ㅤㅤㅤThe Necromonger keeps his own thoughts about that to himself, knowing it is not a conversation that will go anywhere worthwhile. Beyond a doubt, Riddick has proven himself worthy to lead the Necromonger Empire, even without the added power granted by purification or transcendence. Siberius just wishes he knew what that meant for their prophesies of Underverse, and whether they will have earned their place amongst the Holy Dead.

ㅤㅤㅤSlanting his gaze back to the Lord Marshal, his lets his gaze trail over the Furyan, thoughtful, "...my patience wanes for these theatrics, but it is your choice. You may have to make an example of a few Nobility, if the Necromonger Elite are to take you seriously."

Yuletide Letter

Thank you! Thank you Yuletide writer for having patience with me as I got this letter up and for having amazing tastes in small fandoms. Yuletide is one of my favorite fandom traditions and I’m so excited for this year’s fic and festivities. 

The Chronicle of Riddick Series: Riddick & Vaako

Okay, I just love movies that really go for it. And Chronicles of Riddick was that fucking movie. I love the larger universe that it introduces us to and the Necromongers. There’s something so captivating to me about fictional cults, especially ones like Necromongers that blend fanatical militarism with religion on that galactic scale. Riddick and Vaako are so fascinating together and I’d love anything with Vaako introducing Riddick to the culture and tradition of the Necromongers. It doesn’t have to be their murder, murder thing, maybe they have interesting art or food or  sacred temples. Vaako is a true believer and he wants to show that to Riddick. Cool with it being either a platonic advisor or romantic relationship. 

The Indian Lake Trilogy: Stephen Graham Jones: Jade & Letha

I haven’t read the second book in the series! Fine with spoilers but god I would love Jade getting a fucking break. Ghostface knows the girl deserves it. Maybe they get out of town and Jade gets to introduce her to one of her favorite cities. Jade is suddenly thrust into a “girls trip” movie and doesn’t know the thematic motifs. Maybe they go visit Letha’s family and suddenly it’s a Hallmark Rom-Com and poor Jade is just completely lost. Throw Jade and Letha into a new genre and let them smooch.

Dune: Lady Jessica or Leto or Paul or Gurney

So I love Gurney Halleck. Competent military dudes are my kryptonite. Competent and fiercely loyal? A recipe made just for me. I’d love anything exploring Gurney’s devotion to the House of Atreides. From Leto to Jessica to Paul: any or all. Maybe Leto and Gurney in their younger days before he was Lord Leto. Gurney watching Paul grow from a young pup to the Emperor. Gurney easing Lady Jessica’s pain after the loss of her husband and the loss of her son to the universe;s machinations. Romantic or platonic is good for any of the pairings.
